BACKGROUND

Laxmi Charitable Trust – a parent body of Laxmi College of Optometry was brought into existence by the eminent Ophthalmic Surgeon, Dr. Suhas Haldipurkar in 1999, with the aim to provide quality eye care to one & all. 75% of the total population of Raigad District is in rural area, where access to even primary eye care is very difficult. This emphasizes the need of community outreach program to provide primary eye care. This was achieved by conducting eye camps and setting up primary eye care centers in rural area and the outskirts.

Laxmi Charitable Trust since 1999 has conducted 1554 free eye camps and has performed more than 43906 free cataract surgeries. Laxmi College of Optometry is efficiently providing trained personnel required for such activities to the Trust.
